About the Artist

I have been playing with found materials most of my life.

My mother tells a story of how, as a toddler, I placed broccoli florets in the holes of a play rotary phone near my high chair. I have been fulfilling my need to create (and recreate) things ever since. I am an addictive accumulator of techniques; collector of strange objects; and observer of things stuck in the mud, caught in trees, and ground into the sidewalk.

My CV, linked above, will give you some of the basics (education, exhibitions, publications).

The Woodin Colloquium Lecture, linked below, is an hour-long talk and Q&A from 2020 with lots of images and info about how my work has changed over the past 30 years or so, my inspiration, and more recent explorations.
