Kumihimo Necklaces for Sale

These necklaces are made from yarn created from strips of reclaimed saris (mostly silk, but sometimes other fibers) sewn together to form balls of reusable fiber. The colors and textures change slightly as the garment patterns unravel with the deconstruction. Seam ends (1/2” connections of strips) add texture throughout. This eco-friendly process provides sustainable employment for women in Nepal and India who are partnered with the company Darn Good Yarn. I braid these strips into round, springy thick corded loops that can be tripled or quadrupled to make a soft and colorful necklace. The loops are 96” long loops, about 1/2” thick with ends knotted together.
