Rose Burds

75.00

These birds are covered with rehydrated rose petals, then double sealed to protect the fragile surface. The process of making this series is quite precarious, since every step of the final covering can lead to disaster - the petals can spilt or be too brittle to rehydrate properly; the petals shrink as they dry, so gaps can appear after application; and the final surface effect varies depending on temperature and ambient humidity - adhesive can curdle or discolor. However, the final effect, when all the stars align, is lovely and luminous. I am happy to make commemorative commissions using your own dried roses from special occasions, with the understanding that the outcome is not guaranteed (no charge for mutually agreed mishaps).
